The death toll due to floods in western Germany has risen to 58 people; nine new victims were announced by the Interior Ministry of the federal state of Rheinland-Pfalz.

It is still impossible to reach some settlements due to flooded roads and destroyed bridges. In five districts in the state of North Rhine — Westphalia, the population is being evacuated due to the threat of a dam break. In the city of Trier, about 350 people were taken out after the flood of the local river.
In the district of Rhein-Erft, an emergency situation was declared due to the threat of further flooding.
In addition to emergency services, the Bundeswehr forces are involved in rescue operations.
