The US Department of State has approved the sale of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Georgia for $ 30 million, the Agency for International Defense Development reported in the Pentagon structure.
Congress has also been informed about a possible deal.
Georgia has previously asked the United States to sell 82 Javelin FGM-148 missiles and 46 launchers.
“Javelin systems will help Georgia build a long-term defense potential to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity… and will improve Georgia’s ability to respond to current and future threats by increasing its anti-tank potential,” the agency said.
Javelin missiles are produced by a joint venture of Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.
