Apple recently released the third generation AirPods. The new AirPods have undergone a radical redesign that has been brewing since the release of the first generation model. They now bear a striking resemblance to the AirPods Pro. Moreover, there are rumors that Apple will soon introduce the second generation AirPods Pro.

According to MacRumors, the actual AirPods Pro 2 headphones will retain the same design as the existing model. The publication refers to an unverified source and provides images of the new headphones and their charging case.

It looks like the new earbuds use the same design, including the short stem, and the same silicone eartips. Judging from the images, it looks like Apple has ditched the optical sensor.

But the charging case is noticeably different. There are speaker holes on each side of the Lightning port at the bottom of the charging case. According to the source, this will allow users to play audio through the charging case speakers using the Find My app. In addition, there seems to be a metal loop on the side for attaching a strap.
