The production of semiconductors in China has reached a record level, which will help reduce the shortage of components in the future. This is reported by the South China Morning Post.

According to published government data, the production of semiconductors and microchips increased by 47.3 percent compared to last year. In the first seven months of 2021, China produced more than 203.6 billion units of components. In July, local manufacturers produced 31.6 billion units of chips, which was a new record. Experts associate the production breakthrough with a high demand for products.

According to the five-year industrial development plan of China, the production of semiconductors is a priority. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the country is preparing for an intensification of the trade war with the United States. The global crisis of components of various gadgets, cars, and other equipment affects production growth. However, experts predict an improvement in the situation and a possible end to the severe deficit.

Journalists note that local enterprises have maximized the capacity of their factories to meet the high demand. Despite the positive dynamics, car production in China fell by 15.8 percent compared to the same period last year due to a shortage of semiconductors.
