Schengen visa will rise to 80 euros.
The EU Council approved amendments to the Visa code previously proposed by the European Commission and adopted by the European Parliament.
The cost of a Schengen visa after the entry into force of the amendments will rise to 80 euros. A mechanism is being introduced to allow it to be reviewed every three years.
However, visa applications can be submitted six months before the start of the trip, but not later than 15 days before it. It will be possible to submit electronically the application and certify it with an electronic signature.
Regular travelers with a good visa history will find it easier to obtain multiple-entry short-term visas for 1-5 years.
Amendments to the code will enter into force six months after their publication in the official journal.
