Deputy official representative of the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said that the executive director of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Henrietta Fore has decided to resign.
“Henrietta Fore, the executive director of UNICEF, has informed the Secretary-General (UN Antonio Guterres) of her intention to resign in order to devote herself to the problem of family health. The Secretary General fully understands her decision and accepted it with deep regret, ” Haq said at a press conference.
According to him, the UN Secretary-General is grateful to Fore for its service aimed at improving the lives of children in the countries of the world.
Henrietta Fore has been the Executive Director of UNICEF since January 1, 2018. According to Haq, Fore will remain in her position until her successor is appointed.
