The fourth wave of coronavirus is underway in the United States

According to University of Minnesota epidemiologist Michael Osterholm, the United States is facing a fourth wave of coronavirus.

Earlier, the head of the US Centers for Disease Control and Spread (CDC), Rochelle Walensky, said about the feeling of “imminent death” amid the growing incidence of COVID-19 in the country and spoke about the possibility of a fourth wave of the pandemic.

In an interview with Fox News, Osterholm agreed that the fourth wave of COVID-19 is underway in the United States. “I think so,” he said.

“I believe that in some ways, we are almost in a new pandemic. The only good news is that the current vaccines are effective against a specific (“British”) variant B.1.1.7,” the epidemiologist emphasized.

According to Johns Hopkins University, which summarizes information from federal and local authorities and the media, and other open sources, more than 30.6 million cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the United States. More than 554 thousand people have died.
