Quarantine measures in Europe and the United States will be possible to soften by September. It will be possible not to resort to the introduction of lockdowns, according to the head of the German biotechnology company Biontech Ugur Shahin.

“In many countries in Europe and the United States, probably by the end of the summer, we will no longer have to be isolated,” he said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.

At the same time, he warned that with this, the coronavirus would not disappear anywhere. According to Shahin, it will take at least a year to bring the epidemic situation under full control and gradually return to normal life.

Biontech is a partner of the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer in creating one of the first coronavirus vaccines approved in many countries.
