John Sanders led the Department since April this year.

Acting head of the Customs and border service of the United States John Sanders resigns, and on July 5 will leave his post, the Agency said on Tuesday.

Sanders ‘ resignation coincided with protests over the treatment of migrant children detained at the border. According to lawyers, 250 children were held for weeks in unsanitary conditions in overcrowded border services in Texas without food and water of proper quality.

They were later transferred to orphanages.
