The husband of cameraman Halyna Hutchins, who died in the United States from an accidental shot on the set of the western “Rust,” asked the press to show respect for his family’s personal life during this difficult period.
“Halyna inspired us all with her passion and vision; her legacy is too significant to be put into words. Our loss is huge, and we ask the media to respect the privacy of my family as we are going through grief. We are grateful to everyone for publishing photos and stories from her [Halyna] life,” Matt Hutchins wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
Director Joel Souza expressed his condolences to the Hutchins family, who was injured in an accident. “My thoughts are with her family <…>. She was kind, bright, incredibly talented, fought to the end, and always encouraged me to be better,” Deadline portal quotes his statement. Souza also thanked the hundreds of people who wrote him words of support after his hospitalization. “It will definitely help my recovery,” he added.
An open farewell ceremony with Hutchins was held on Saturday evening in Albuquerque (New Mexico).
