The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions, according to the organization’s website.

“In order to protect the integrity of global sports competitions and the safety of all participants, the IOC Executive Committee recommends that international sports federations and event organizers not invite or allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes, as well as officials. Citizens of Russia or Belarus, whether individuals or teams, should be accepted only as neutral athletes or neutral teams,” the IOC said in a statement.
