The iPhone 12 found a “secret” feature that Apple did not talk about

Recently, Apple held a presentation of the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro smartphones, in which it spoke about the main features of the gadgets. But it seems that the company did not mention one feature of the devices: technically, they can charge other devices from themselves. That is, the phones are equipped with a reverse charging function. This conclusion was made from the documentation that the manufacturer filed with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). MacRumors report this.

The documentation, in particular, States that the iPhone 12 supports two-way wireless charging at a frequency of 360 kHz-with its help, you can allegedly charge smartphone accessories. However, Apple has not yet officially announced the availability of this feature. The hardware may support this function, but it has been disabled programmatically for some reason. In theory, reverse charging can be activated in one of the next operating system updates.

According to Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman, who is known for quite accurate forecasts about Apple gadgets, the iPhone 12 could be delayed until the official announcement of new accessories such as AirTags geotags or updated AirPods headphones with MagSafe support. According to unconfirmed information, in November, Apple will hold other presentation-perhaps details about reverse charging will be revealed on it.

Recall: Apple introduced four smartphones with OLED screens of 5.4, 6.1 (two devices), and 6.7 inches. The first two phones — iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro-have already gone on sale in the first wave of countries.
