The Iraqi Parliament will consider the withdrawal of the US military

On Sunday, the Iraqi Parliament is going to hold an extraordinary session, at which lawmakers will insist on voting for a resolution on the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.

The meeting came two days after US military drone strike on a convoy at Baghdad airport killed Iranian military commander Qasem Suleimani and Iraqi police leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

“There is no need for the presence of American forces after the victory over ISIS. We have our own armed forces that are able to protect the country” – said Ammar al-Shibli, a member of the parliamentary legal Committee.

Now about 5,000 American troops remain in Iraq, most of them as advisers.

-The Pentagon previously said that they were involved in missile strikes on the airport of Baghdad (Iraq) and its surroundings, as a result of which, on the orders of President Donald Trump, the commander of the Iranian special forces “Quds” General Qasem Suleimani was killed.

-Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has promised: “Severe revenge” on those who killed Qasem Suleimani.

-The United States Department of State has called on its citizens in Iraq to leave the country immediately due to the tense situation in the region.

-US President Donald Trump has threatened to strike 52 Iranian targets if Tehran carries out attacks targeting Americans or American targets.

-Britain has decided to strengthen security measures in the Middle East amid tensions in the region after the murder of Iranian General Qasem Suleimani.
