The Mexican President again refused to congratulate Biden

Lopez Obrador intends to await the results of legal claims teams trump contesting the election results.

The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador, has again refused to congratulate Joe Biden as the United States elected President, saying that the time is not yet come and that his country is “not a colony.”

Lopez Obrador has said he will wait for the results of lawsuits filed by the headquarters of Donald Trump in connection with the vote.

“We cannot recognize a government that has not yet been formed legally and legitimately,” he said at a news conference. “It’s not up to us; it’s government intervention.

Lopez Obrador said that there would be no consequences for Mexico because of this.

“Because we have a policy based on principles,” he said. We are a free, independent, sovereign country. The Mexican government is not a puppet of any foreign government.”

Biden’s transition team said he was congratulated over the phone by the leaders of Australia and Japan and many other countries worldwide.
