Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Scott Berrier believes that with proper planning and coordination, Washington officials can visit Ukrainian territory.

Director of the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense U.S. Army Lieutenant General Scott Berrier does not believe that the trip of American First Lady Jill Biden to the territory of Ukraine last week was completely safe. He expressed this opinion on Tuesday at a hearing in the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Senate.

“I wouldn’t say that,” he replied to the legislator’s question about whether the specified trip can be called fully safe. Berrier was also asked if this means that U.S. officials should not visit Ukraine at all. “I would not say that, I would say that with proper planning and coordination it is possible,” the director of the Pentagon intelligence agency added, expressing doubts that in this case it will be possible to guarantee complete security.

As the White House press pool reported on Sunday, Jill Biden stayed in Ukraine for a little less than two hours as part of a trip to Europe. Her visit to the country was not announced in advance.
