The President of Afghanistan has agreed to leave office

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has agreed to resign, a source at the presidential palace, where negotiations on the transfer of power to the Taliban are taking place, told.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, the head of state-linked his decision with the impossibility of starting hostilities in the Afghan capital Kabul.

Tolo News reports that Ashraf Ghani has already left the country.

Earlier, he made a video message in which he instructed the heads of the country’s security agencies to ensure the safety of citizens in the conditions of the “power vacuum” that arose in connection with the penetration of the Taliban into Kabul.

The issue of the new leadership of Afghanistan will be finally resolved within the next two or three days, the source added.
