The confirmed number of victims has reached 97, 8 more people are missing

The authorities of Florida said that the search for those who died as a result of the partial collapse of an apartment building in the city of Surfside is coming to an end.

According to officials, the death toll reached 97 people on Thursday, and eight more people are missing.

Of the 97 bodies found, 90 were identified.

“The total number of confirmed deaths currently stands at 97 people. A stunning, heartbreaking loss,” wrote the mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava, on Twitter.

About 10 million kilograms of debris and debris were removed from the site of the collapse of the 12-storey building.

Workers are trying to find jewelry, photo albums, and other personal items among the wreckage to return them to their owners or their relatives, the Washington Post reports.
