The suspect in the shooting, staged on Friday near one of the schools in the U.S. capital, committed suicide. CNN reported this with reference to the police.

“We believe that the suspect committed suicide when law enforcement officers entered the apartment where the suspect was,” said the head of the Washington police Department, Robert Conti. He noted that the search for a possible accomplice is not underway.

The shooting occurred near the University of the District of Columbia. The Reuters news agency, citing the police, informed that the suspect, using a sniper rifle with a tripod, fired randomly at people. According to the initial information of the guards, two adult men and a minor girl were injured. All three were treated at the hospital. Later, there was information about the fourth wounded woman, who did not go to a medical institution.
