Consultations will take place in Doha.
A delegation of the radical Taliban movement that seized power in Afghanistan went to Qatar to hold consultations with representatives of the United States, the European Union, and other parties. This was announced on Thursday by the Taliban-appointed spokesman for the Afghan Foreign Ministry, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, on his Twitter page.
“A high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the name of the state used by radicals) headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs [in the interim Government] Amir Khan Muttaqi. The delegation includes representatives of the Ministries of education, Health, Finance, security, as well as the central bank of the country,” the representative of the radicals said.
On Wednesday, representatives of the Taliban informed about the upcoming consultations with diplomats of the United States, the EU, and other parties in Qatar from November 27 to 29. Shortly before that, Washington reported that the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West, would arrive in Doha next week, where he would discuss with the Taliban leaders the fight against terrorism on Afghan territory.
