According to their assessment, “the test was carried out flawlessly.”
The U.S. Air Force reported on the successful testing of a prototype hypersonic weapon under the ARRW (Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon) program. This is stated in a written statement distributed on Monday.
The strategic bomber of the U.S. Air Force Boeing B-52H Stratofortress “on May 14, off the coast in southern California, successfully launched” the AGM-183A hypersonic missile developed under the ARRW program, the document says. After separation from the aircraft, the unit “ignited and burned for the expected time, reaching a hypersonic speed five times the speed of sound.”
The U.S. Air Force noted that “the test was carried out flawlessly” and the U.S. is “doing everything possible to provide this unique weapon to American servicemen as soon as possible.”
