The Secretary of State said that he supports Ukraine’s efforts aimed at de-escalation.
The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the actions taken by the Russian side indicate that it is not set up for diplomatic interaction with the Ukrainian authorities.
“To date, I have not seen any significant efforts on the part of Russia aimed at ending the war it is waging by diplomatic means,” Blinken said at a press conference.
“We support Ukraine’s efforts aimed at de-escalation through diplomatic means, a ceasefire and, of course, the withdrawal of Russian forces,” he added.
“If diplomacy eventually prevails and there is something we can do to support this diplomacy, to support an outcome that will restore Ukraine’s independence, we will, of course, study it and, I am sure, we will do it,” the head of the Department of State added.
