The foundation was initiated by Democratic Senator from Colorado Michael Bennett and Republican Senator from Ohio Rob Portman.

Senators from two U.S. parties have prepared a bill according to which it is proposed to direct the proceeds from the confiscation of assets from the Russian Federation to help Ukraine. This was reported by the Axios portal.

According to him, Democratic Senator from Colorado Michael Bennett and Republican Senator from Ohio Rob Portman took the initiative to create a fund for “assistance to Ukrainian refugees and reconstruction of Ukraine,” which will be managed by the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development. “One of the ways to help is to move from freezing the assets of Russian oligarchs and wealthy citizens to confiscating their assets and providing these funds to the people of Ukraine to help with ongoing humanitarian activities,” the publication quotes Portman as saying.
