The United States will host the forum on its territory for the first time since the first meeting in Miami in 1994, the White House said.

The United States will host the next, Ninth Summit of the Americas-a traditional forum with the participation of heads of state and government of the countries of the Western Hemisphere – in the summer of 2022. This was announced by the press service of the White House.

“The United States is preparing to host the ninth Summit of the Americas in the early summer of 2022,” the text of the statement says. “The United States will host the summit on its territory for the first time since the first meeting in Miami in 1994,” the White House added.

The Summits of the Americas are meetings of the heads of state and government of the countries of the Western Hemisphere, which are held every few years under the auspices of the Organization of the American States, which unites 35 countries.

The first Summit of the Americas was held on December 9-11, 1994, in Miami on the initiative of Bill Clinton, who was then President of the United States.
