Deliveries were delayed until 2026.

The United States has notified Taiwan of the possibility of delaying the delivery of 40 M-109A6 self-propelled howitzers to the island until 2026. As the South China Morning Post reported on Monday, this is caused by “overloaded production lines,” which the newspaper links to the situation in Ukraine.

In August last year, the Washington administration approved the delivery of another batch of weapons to Taipei in the amount of $ 750 million. In particular, an agreement was reached on the sale of 40 Paladin howitzers and ammunition for them. We are talking about self-propelled artillery units on a tracked chassis with a rotating turret, which are capable of firing up to eight rounds per minute with 155 mm shells.

The United States is the main supplier of weapons to Taiwan. In the coming years, Washington promised to sell Taipei M2A2 Abrams tanks, F-16V fighters, HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, drones, cruise missiles, sea mines and other equipment.
