The U.S. authorities intend to reduce the number of employees of the American embassy in Kabul in the coming weeks. This was announced on Thursday at a regular briefing by the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price.

“We continue to reduce our civilian presence in Kabul amid the changing security situation. In the coming weeks, we expect to reduce [our presence] in Afghanistan to a basic diplomatic representation, ” he said, stressing that the American diplomatic mission in Kabul will continue its work.

The U.S. will speed up the evacuation of Afghans applying for U.S. visas.

The U.S. military will help in the removal of American employees from Kabul.
