They will be placed there on a temporary basis.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered 500 more U.S. troops to be sent to Europe, where they will be stationed on a temporary basis.

This information was confirmed at a regular briefing for journalists by Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby.

“I would like to announce that over the weekend, Secretary Austin ordered an additional 500 U.S. military personnel to be deployed from the United States to locations in Europe in order to increase the U.S. forces that are already in this theater,” he said.

“These measures, like everything we have talked about in recent weeks, are not permanent, they are temporary measures,” the Pentagon spokesman explained.

He did not name specific countries of deployment.
