The famous soccer player Diego Maradona was a source of inspiration for many, said at a briefing, Deputy official representative of the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq.
The 1986 world Cup champion Maradona died on Wednesday at the age of 61. Maradona underwent brain surgery in early November and was released from the hospital on November 11, recovering from the operation. The preliminary reason, according to media reports, is respiratory and heart failure.
“It is unfortunate to hear this news. He was a source of inspiration for many. He has done a lot of positive work for us as a goodwill Ambassador. I think I will express the opinion of many if I say that sometimes it seemed that he was touched by the hand of God,” Haq said.
