The U.S. President Joe Biden has banned the sale of dollar banknotes to Russia by his decree.
“The following is prohibited… export, re-export, sale or supply directly or indirectly from the United States, as well as from individuals or legal entities of the United States, regardless of their location, of banknotes denominated in U.S. dollars, to the government of the Russian Federation or to any person located in the Russian Federation,” the document says.
In addition, Biden restricted the import of alcohol, diamonds and seafood from Russia, as well as the export of luxury goods to the country.
“The executive order will establish legal grounds for future restrictions on investment in any sector of the Russian economy,” the White House said in a statement.
Earlier, the United States refused to purchase oil, gas and coal from Moscow.
