To assist Ukraine in “countering aggression from Russia”, the US State Department has requested $ 255 million from Congress for the 2022 fiscal year, Free News reports with reference to the budget request of the US department.
“Ukraine – 255 million dollars. Assistance from the United States will strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian aggression. This funding will accelerate the process of anti-corruption reforms, increase transparency and accountability, including by expanding the range of e-government initiatives, and will also contribute to the reform of institutions, which is necessary for the country’s European integration,” the document says.
It is noted that part of the funds requested by the State Department should also have an impact on “improving the business climate and trade potential of Ukraine.”
In addition, the United States intends to support the work of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM), which monitors the progress of the conflict in Ukraine.
In March, the parties to the conflict in Ukraine accused each other of violating the truce and transferring military equipment to the line of contact.
In turn, some Western countries announced the alleged increase in Russia’s military activity near the borders with Ukraine and the escalation of “Russian aggression”.
