The American permanent representative to the organization, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, called the participation of the Russian Federation in the council a farce.
The U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said on Monday that Washington would propose at the General Assembly to exclude Russia from the UN Human Rights Council.
“Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council is a farce,” Reuters quoted her as saying, “it’s wrong, and that’s why we think it’s time for the UN General Assembly to vote for its exclusion.” Thomas-Greenfield also stated that “images from the Butch and destruction throughout Ukraine require” to back up their words with actions.
In turn, the official representative of the head of the session of the General Assembly, Paulina Kubiyak, told that a meeting on Russia’s participation in the Human Rights Council has not yet been requested.
