A record-breaking daily increase in cases of coronavirus infection – 21,683 – was registered in the US state of Florida, according to data on the website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States.
The previous record was recorded on January 7, when the daily increase in cases of infection was 19,334. Florida accounts for about a fifth of all new cases of coronavirus infection in the United States, which makes the state a new epicenter of the spread of the disease, Bloomberg notes.
The United States leads the world in the number of people infected with coronavirus and the number of fatal cases. According to the latest data from Hopkins University, more than 34.9 million people have already been infected in the country; more than 613 thousand have died.
