The US authorities will prepare a plan for revaccination of the population by September

The US administration insists on the early development of a strategy for using booster doses of the vaccine.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to present a plan to revaccinate the country’s population by the beginning of autumn. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

According to her, the US administration insists on the early development of a strategy for using booster doses of the vaccine, since some groups of the population, in particular people over 65 years old, with weak immunity or those who were vaccinated in the first two months after the start of vaccination, may need an additional dose of the vaccine as early as August.

Earlier, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus, called for a moratorium on booster vaccinations until at least the end of September. He explained that this would make it possible to send more coronavirus vaccines to low-income countries that are experiencing a shortage of it and ensure that the goal set earlier by the world organization is to vaccinate at least 10% of the population of all countries by the end of September. The US administration opposed this proposal, arguing that, if necessary, it can “do both”: send vaccines to other countries and provide the US population with booster doses of appropriate drugs if the FDA deems it necessary to use them.
