The US delegation, which arrived in Haiti, pledged to support the country’s authorities and declared the support of its people, the White House said in a statement.
According to the statement, an interdepartmental American delegation consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Security Council arrived in Haiti on Sunday.
It is reported that the delegation met with Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph and the appointed head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Ariel Henri, who did not take office.
“During all their meetings, the delegation pledged to support the Government of Haiti in its quest for justice in this situation and reaffirmed the support of the Haitian people in this difficult time,” the statement says.
Haitian President Jovenel Moise was fatally wounded in an attack on his residence on Wednesday night. His wife, Martin Moise, was injured and is now in stable condition in a hospital in Miami (USA). Haitian law enforcement authorities on Thursday reported that they had identified 28 suspects involved in the assassination of the country’s president Jovenel Moise, 26 of them are citizens of Colombia. In total, according to the head of the police, 17 members of the criminal group were detained.
