“This is turning into a pandemic of the unvaccinated. We are seeing outbreaks of the disease in those parts of the country where the vaccination rate is low,” Walensky warned. According to her, over the past week, the number of new cases of coronavirus infection in the country has jumped by 70 percent.
It is noted that the lowest level of vaccination in the country is recorded in the state of Mississippi. Only 33.5 percent of the residents were fully vaccinated there. At the same time, 94 percent of those infected this week were those who were not vaccinated, said the head of the state health Department, Thomas Dobbs.
In June, the White House coordinator for the response to the pandemic, Jeffrey Zients, reported that in the United States, 70 percent of the adult population over the age of 30 was vaccinated against coronavirus with at least one dose.
