Former Deputy US Attorney General Richard Donoghue has provided evidence of attempts by former President Donald Trump to influence the results of the 2020 presidential election. The Independent reports this.
Confirmation of Trump’s actions is contained in a memo that Donoghue handed over to the House Oversight Committee. It is reported that on December 27, 2020, Trump appealed to Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen with a demand to declare the US presidential election corrupt and illegal. The former president promised to “take care of the rest on his own” and congressmen from the Republican Party.
At the same time, the Independent draws attention to the fact that the Ministry of Justice did not find evidence of fraud during the electoral process. The publication stressed that such an act of Trump could be regarded as an attempt to put pressure on an official, given that Rosen and Donoghue were appointed to their posts on December 23, 2020.
On July 25, Trump said that the United States is being destroyed as a state because the current president Joe Biden came to power due to unfair elections. According to him, the Republican Party has no future if American citizens do not learn about the fraud of the Democrats “with hundreds of thousands and millions of votes.”
