The United States seeks stable and predictable relations with Russia, although it does not imagine that they will be friendly, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday.

“Ultimately, our goal is a stable, predictable relationship, and although it is impossible to imagine that we would become friends, we could reduce the risk of escalation, which would ultimately harm America’s interests,” Sullivan said on ABC, commenting on the meeting of the presidents of the two countries.

He also noted that US President Joe Biden made it clear from the very beginning that he wants direct and honest interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
