The Bonhomme Richard ship caught fire last July off the coast of San Diego.
The US Navy charged a sailor with arson in connection with a four-day fire on the landing ship Bonhomme Richard in July last year, due to which the ship was destroyed.
The Federal Migration Service said that the charges were brought in connection with evidence discovered during a criminal investigation into a fire that began on the ship on July 12, 2020, when it was off the coast of San Diego.
The name of the accused is not specified.
As a result of the fire, 63 people were injured, including 40 sailors and 23 civilians, and the ship was declared not subject to restoration.
