The United States is considering the introduction of mandatory vaccination and the return of the mask regime as measures to combat the pandemic against the background of an increase in the incidence of coronavirus, CNN reported.

According to sources, the administration of President Joe Biden is deciding whether to provide a third, additional dose of the vaccine to groups of the population at risk. The initiative has not yet received regulatory approval. In addition, there are discussions about the return of recommendations regarding the wearing of masks. This decision, however, may be inconvenient from a political point of view, since many restrictions and requirements “were solemnly canceled.”

It is noted that Biden is “under pressure” to demand mandatory vaccination of certain groups of the population against the background of the mass reluctance of Americans to be vaccinated. The authorities are discussing whether to support companies that oblige employees to get vaccinated or make it difficult for them to work.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States ranks first in the world in terms of morbidity and mortality from coronavirus. More than 34 million cases of infection and more than 610 thousand deaths were detected.
