The US will continue to carry out airstrikes in support of the Afghan military

The United States will continue to launch airstrikes in support of the Afghan security forces to counter the militants of the radical Taliban movement, said the commander of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces, General Kenneth McKenzie.

“The United States has increased the number of airstrikes in support of Afghan forces over the past few days, and we are ready to continue to provide the same increased support in the coming weeks if the Taliban continue to carry out their attacks,” General Mackenzie said, speaking in Kabul. His words are quoted by Agence France-Presse.

Earlier, the representative of the US Defense Ministry, John Kirby, said that the US had carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan to support the security forces. In turn, the Taliban threatened the United States with “consequences” for carrying out airstrikes.
