As Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia noted, this is possible provided that the sovereignty and government of the republic are respected.

Venezuela is ready to cooperate with the United States in the field of oil trade, provided they respect the sovereignty and government of the republic. This was stated in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu agency on Saturday by the Foreign Minister of the Caribbean state Felix Plasencia.

“I hope they will respect the sovereignty and legitimacy of my government. President [Nicholas] Maduro is the sole and legitimate head of the Venezuelan government. We can achieve a lot in the field of oil trade by convincing them to respect it,” he said on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum in Antalya.

Placencia stressed that Caracas has never expelled American oil companies from Venezuela. “We never asked them to leave the country, they made this decision themselves. Unfortunately, they have taken unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela. I hope these measures will be canceled, and we will have a respectful relationship,” he added.

According to the diplomat, Venezuela is currently producing 1 million barrels of oil every day. By the end of the year, the authorities expect to double this amount together with “reliable partners from Russia, China and Iran.”
