Security personnel evacuated Douglas Emhoff, as well as students and staff from the school building in Washington.
Douglas Emhoff, the husband of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, was evacuated from the school building in Washington on Tuesday, where an event with his participation was taking place, the school administration of the District of Columbia reported.
Emhoff came to the Dunbar School, located in northwest D.C., to participate in an event dedicated to African American History Month. Security staff also asked students and teachers of the school to leave the building.
Employees of Emhoff’s office told reporters that the Secret Service received a warning about a bomb threat from the school administration.
The D.C. School Board said the reason for the evacuation was a bomb threat.
“We took precautions and evacuated everyone, as you saw,” a school district spokesman said, adding that the threat turned out to be false: no bombs were found in the building, the situation is under control.
