One passenger was injured.
A man wounded one of the passengers of the New York subway with a pistol on one of the central metro lines of the city. This was reported to reporters by the New York police.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred on Line N when the subway train was approaching one of the central transfer stations in Manhattan – 14 Street – Union Square. One of the passengers demanded that the other hand over the phone, after which he shot him in the leg.
The incident occurred during rush hour when there were a lot of people in the subway car. Apart from the man with the phone, none of them were injured.
The security situation in New York has become one of the main issues for the city authorities against the background of the mayoral elections scheduled for early November. Over the past six months, only one of the main attractions of New York – Times Square – has had shooting incidents twice.
