Deliveries of Toyota and Lexus cars to Russia have been temporarily suspended, since March 4, the Toyota plant in St. Petersburg has been idle due to problems with the supply of components, the company’s press service told.

“Due to delays in the supply of components, the plant in St. Petersburg, which produces RAV4 and Camry, suspends its work from March 04, 2022. At the moment, deliveries of Toyota and Lexus cars to Russia are temporarily suspended until further notice due to disruption of logistics supply chains in the region,” Toyota Motor noted.

At the same time, the company stressed that car deliveries will be resumed as supply chains are restored.

The Toyota Motor plant in St. Petersburg was opened in 2007, the company produces the Toyota Camry sedan and the Toyota RAV4 crossover. Its production capacity is 100 thousand cars per year. According to the Association of European Businesses, the company’s sales in Russia in 2021 increased by 7%, to almost 98 thousand units.
