It is planned to be put into operation by 2025.

Japanese automaker Toyota Motor will build a new battery factory in the U.S. state of North Carolina, investing $ 1.29 billion in the project. This was announced on Tuesday by the Japanese automobile company.

It is noted that the capacity of the plant, which is planned to be put into operation by 2025, will allow producing lithium-ion batteries for 200 thousand cars per year. At the first stage, the plant will be equipped with four assembly lines, but in the future it is planned to increase their number to six. This, according to the company, will bring the total volume of battery production to a level that allows equipping up to 1.2 million cars per year.

Earlier, Toyota announced that by 2030 it plans to invest about $ 3.4 billion in expanding the production of batteries in the United States.
