Tropical storm “Henri” on Saturday strengthened to a category one hurricane. The U.S. National Hurricane Monitoring Center reported this.

According to him, a hurricane warning has been announced for some areas of Long Island, the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island, located in the northeastern United States. Storm surges and heavy rains are expected in the region on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

At the moment, the maximum wind speed within the element is 33.5 m / s. The hurricane is located at a distance of about 748 km south of Long Island (New York) and is moving northwest at a speed of about 9.8 m / s.
