The acting Minister of Defense of the United States will Mark Esper, said on his Twitter page President Donald Trump.

According to the American leader, the interim head of the Pentagon Patrick Shanahan decided to abandon the approval process in the Senate for this position. At the same time, Trump noted that the current acting defense Minister has done a great job, but wants to devote more time to the family.

“I thank Pat for the excellent service and assign the Minister of Land Forces, Mark Esper, to be new acting Minister of Defense,” wrote the President of the United States.

He also said that he knows Esper well, so I’m sure – with the work in the new position, he will cope perfectly.

Previously, Esper in the Pentagon was the Minister of Land Forces; he also worked as Vice President of the defense Corporation Raytheon, was a senior officer in the apparatus of the US Senate. Esper has combat experience: during his service in the 101st airborne division in the early 1990s, he took part in the Gulf war, for which he received a Bronze Star, as well as two state awards of Kuwait.
