US President Donald Trump will take part in the 50th-anniversary world economic forum in Davos, which will be held from January 21 to 24, the forum’s organizers said on Tuesday.
Trump attended this annual event in January 2018, becoming the first American leader to attend this forum in two decades. Last year, Trump did not go to Davos. This time, his trip will take place against the background of preparations for the impeachment trial in the Senate.
According to the list of participants presented by the organizers, the American delegation will include Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, US trade representative Robert Lighthizer, as well as the President’s daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who originally planned to attend the event, is no longer listed as a participant. In total, about 3,000 people will take part in the forum. This year, the theme of the forum is declared as “Stakeholders for a cohesive and sustainable world.”
