The event was attended by more than 50 foreign ministers, including the Foreign Ministers of Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The OSCE Chairmanship was informed that as of December 5, two people who attended the meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Stockholm received positive test results for COVID-19 after the event. This was reported on Sunday in a press release of the Swedish Foreign Ministry.
“Additional cases cannot be excluded. Participants could get infected with COVID-19 during one or several days of meetings on December 2-3,” the message says.
According to the TT news agency, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto was recorded with a positive test result for COVID-19. He also managed to take part in a meeting of the government of his country on Friday. Haavisto reported his test result to his Swedish colleague Ann Linde.
More than 50 foreign ministers, including Russia, the USA, and the UK, took part in the meeting in Stockholm.
The Council of Foreign Ministers is the central decision-making body of the OSCE for discussing security issues and existing threats, strengthening confidence-building measures, and improving cooperation in Europe. The meeting is convened once a year by the chair country of the organization. The OSCE Chairmanship will be transferred to Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau from January 1, 2022.
