Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison on March 11 for harassment and rape, was taken to the hospital hours after the trial. About it reports CNN regarding the representative of the producer Jude Engelmayer.
According to her, 67-year-old Weinstein felt chest pains while in prison on Rikers Island in New York. After that, the administration of the correctional facility decided to take him to a hospital in Manhattan.
According to Engelmayer, doctors will assess the condition of the producer, most likely, he will stay in the clinic for the night. CNN writes that this hospitalization is not the first for Weinstein: he has heart and back problems.
Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on charges of criminal sexual conduct and third-degree rape. The judge reduced the maximum sentence for these criminal articles by two years.
The scandal erupted in 2017 when several Hollywood Actresses accused Weinstein of rape and harassment. Among those who have reported crimes are Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, Uma Thurman. In total, 80 women were accused of molesting Weinstein.
As a result, the producer was charged with five counts, the jury found him guilty on two of them in February 2020.
Weinstein’s lawyers fear that the convict will not live until the end of his term.
