The U.S .is actively working with European allies to expand sanctions.
Through the sanctions policy, the United States is trying to achieve a situation in which Russia would have to choose between default and the use of its remaining foreign exchange reserves, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
“The goal is to force them to make a choice,” she replied to the question whether the goal of the United States at this stage is to achieve a default in Russia.
According to the press secretary, Russia will have to choose between declaring default and depletion of the remaining dollar reserves.
Earlier, the White House said that the United States is actively working with European allies to expand sanctions against Russia.
